Whole House Remodel of I.M. Pei Designed Home
Tasteful modern updates for a special house.

One of the best examples of the rejuvenation of Society Hill in the 1960's is I.M. Pei's design for Bingham Court, a group of two-story modern homes surrounding a courtyard. Pei is more famous for the pyramid at the entrance of the Louvre, and in Philadelphia the Society Hill Towers, but Bingham Court is a great example of his take on the single family home. Everyone on our team was taken with the existing details in the house. It's a very livable design. However, the bathrooms were due for an update and the kitchen was walled off from the rest of the first floor. Working with Chris Greenawalt at Bunker Workshop, we opened up the kitchen and added a powder room within the oak paneled mass that divides the kitchen from the living/dining area. In the bathrooms, we used Cosentino's Dekton material for the floors and counters. This simplifies the palette in these rooms, but more importantly allowed us to use large sheets on the floors and reduce grout lines.
The end result is a cohesive design that we feel I.M. Pei would approve of.
