Washington Square West Rowhouse

The smaller the kitchen, the more smart design matters. The previous kitchen at this house had less storage, less counter space, and was dark. Buckminster Green’s design solved all of those problems and some.

While custom cabinetry isn’t the right choice for every kitchen, here it allowed us to make more of the space we had to work with, and get the colors exactly right. A backsplash made of the same material as the counter is a good way to simplify the mix of materials in a small space. A paneled fridge and appliance garage also cut down on visual clutter. The peninsula added counter space. We were able to include it by removing two walls that enclosed the old kitchen.

The dining room, living room and kitchen are all open to one another, so a cohesive interior was important to our client. Our designer Kristie did full service interior decorating to tie it all together. Custom walnut cabinetry in the dining room adds storage without the kitchen cabinetry blending into the dining room. New furniture, fixtures and art throughout give our client a fresh look when she comes home. The old fireplace wasn't working right, so we fixed that problem and gave it a style upgrade as well with a new mantle and surround.
